March 18, 2025: Philippine Navy announces it will Test Fire three of its five Missile Systems in Bataan next Month of April 2025
The Flag Officer in Command (FOIC) of the Philippine Navy (PN), Vice Admiral Jose Ezpeleta recently announced during a Press Conference that they will doing a Live-Fire Test of the three of five Missile Systems that they have at the Moment next Month on April 21, 2025 in Mariveles, Bataan.
These three Systems are:
* The C-Star Anti-Ship Missile (AShM), the primary Anti-Ship Missile of the Jose Rizal class Guided Missile Frigates;
* The Spike Non Line of Sight (NLOS), the primary Weapon of the Acero-class Fast Attack Interdiction Craft-Missile (FAIC-M);
* And the Mistral 3, the primary Anti-Air Weapon of the Jose Rizal class Frigates
The PN also has the Spike Extended-Range (ER), the primary Weapon of the Multi-Purpose Attack Craft Mark 3 (MPAC MKIII), but these have been test fired several times before already.
The Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) is technically a Part of the PN, so their BrahMos AshMs counts as under the PN. There were announcements made last Year of 2024 about it being Test-fired, but no News about that came out in the Philippines up to now.

December 11, 2024: PN plans to acquire two more Corvettes and six more OPVs
The Philippine Navy (PN) finally provided some more updates about their upcoming planned acquisitions to the Public recently.
First is that they said that they are planning to acquire to more Corvettes, which I assume means something similar to the Miguel Malvar class Corvettes of the PN that is currently being built. Around two Weeks ago, they said it was going to be, “... either Corvettes or Frigates ...”, so now it seems they have settled on what to get.
Second, they said that they will be acquiring six more Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV), which I assume will be similar to the OPVs that are currently also being built in South Korea (SK).
Personally I am not so enthusiastic about those upcoming OPVs, I got a close look as them during the Asian Defense and Security (ADAS) several Months ago, and they are not really good Surface Combatants.
I was going to do a Video about them, but it is just one of those Topics that kept being pushed aside due to one Reason or the other. I intend to make that Video though one of these Days. It makes me wonder if the PN should really be investing in OPVs at all, especially one that seems eager to go to War with a Superpower Country like China.
I think the PN should be investing in more capable Ships, and just leave the Law Enforcement-type Patrolling to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Resources (BFAR). Instead of six more OPVs, they could just get two to three more Corvettes or Frigates in place of those.
But that is just my Opinion, of course, up to them to do what they want to do.

The Spokesperson of the Philippine Navy (PN) for the West Philippine Sea (WPS) Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad said recently said that the PN plans to get two more Frigates or Corvettes, this on top of the two Jose Rizal class Frigates that are already in service now, and the two upcoming Miguel Malvar class Corvettes that are for delivery from South Korea (SK).
The Proposals for these two additional Vessels have already been submitted for Review and Approval. These will serve also as additional Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW) Platforms for the PN.

September 13, 2024: PN planning to acquire two new Dry Docks – Defense Sec. Teodoro
The Philippine Navy (PN) is planning to acquire two brand new Dry Docks, as revealed by Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro recently during a Congressional Hearing. A "Dry Dock" by the Way is a Dock which can be drained of Water to allow for the Inspection and Repair of a Ship's Hull.
The two Dry Docks will have a capacity of 3,500 and 8,000 tons and will be used for the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul of the PN's Vessels. Other Equipment to complement the Docks like Boat and Synchro Lifts, Floating and Harbour Cranes, Tugboats, etc. will also be acquired.
If these Plans push thru, then they will greatly enhance the capability of the PN to service on its own its Vessels.

May 28, 2024: Torpedoman and Missileman Positions in the PN
A Decade ago, back in 2014, these Positions would’ve just been a Dream for the Philippine Navy (PN). Now, ten Years later, they are now living the Dream. I imagine these would be among the most sought-after Technical Positions in the PN right now.
The “Torpedoman” is operates and conducts Organizational Level (O-Level) Maintenance of Torpedoes and their Launching Systems and ensures that these are operational for use. They are trained in the Safe Handling, Propulsion, Guidance Systems and Pre-Setting of Data for the Torpedoes.
The "Missileman" tests and operates the Missiles, Decoys and other Associated Equipment and also conducts their O-Level Maintenance. They are trained in the Fire Control Systems, Guidance Subsystems, Aerodynamics, Weapon Damage Effects and Handling of the Missiles/Decoys/Other Equipment
