2022 Marawi Liberation Anniversary

March 18, 2025: Philippine Soldiers made “War Sculptures” using Leftovers from their Supplies during the 2017 Battle of Marawi
Also shown during the 5th Marawi Liberation Anniversary at the Philippine Army (PA) Headquarters in Taguig City back in October of 2022 were these “War Sculptures” made by Filipino Soldiers during the 2017 Battle of Marawi using only Leftover Materials from their Supplies.

Not all of the Soldiers were fighting the Islamic State of Iraq (ISIS) Terrorists all the time during the Battle, and during some of these “Downtimes”, some of the more Artistic Soldiers started creating these Sculptures using Leftover Materials from their Supplies.

As we can see from the Pictures, one was a Fighter or Bomber Jet Aircraft made from reshaped Brass Casings and Bullets while another one was a Tank made from Rifle and Machine Gun Brass Casings, Ammunition Links, 40 mm Grenade Casings and some other Material. Pretty creative, and a nice Memento for that particular War.

March 11, 2025: Improvised Grenades w/ Coins or Concrete Nails for Shrapnel used by the Terrorists were shown at the 2022 Marawi Liberation Anniv.
Among the Items shown during the 5th Marawi Liberation Anniversary at the Philippine Army (PA) Headquarters in Taguig City back in October of 2022 were these Improvised Grenades that were used by the Islamic State of Iraq (ISIS) Terrorists against our Soldiers during the 2017 Battle of Marawi

As can be seen from the Pictures, these were basically just small Cylindrical Containers with Explosives and a Delayed Detonating Mechanism on the Inside, and improvised Shrapnel on the outside. One used large Philippine Coins while the other used Concrete Nails as Shrapnel Lining.

They used either clear Cellophane Tape or Electrical Tape to attach the Coins or Nails to the outside of the Container. Despite being just improvised, these definitely does and did a lot of Damage and Casualties against our Troops during the Battle of Marawi.

These Examples were recovered by our Forces during or after the War and of course has now been deactivated.

March 10, 2025: “Miracle Helmet” that stopped a Rifle Bullet and saved an AFP Soldier was displayed during the 2022 Marawi Liberation Anniversary
One of the Items displayed during 5th Marawi Liberation Anniversary at the Philippine Army (PA) Headquarters in Taguig City back in October of 2022 was this “Miracle Helmet” which stopped a Rifle Bullet and saved the Life of a Soldier of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) during the 2017 Battle of Marawi

The Helmet is made of Kevlar, and Helmets like these are usually not designed to stop Rifle Ammunition, only lower caliber Pistol Ammunition. But this one did, and it was a 5.56 x 45 mm Bullet. The Bullet likely was either fired from a far enough Distance, or hit some Obstacles along the Way, or both, causing it to lose much of its Speed and unable to penetrate the Helmet.

The Soldier was from one our Special Forces Units, and if that Bullet had penetrated the Helmet, I think he would’ve been unlikely to survive it.

March 9, 2025: PA Simba Vehicle "Gujuanga", a Veteran of the 2017 Battle of Marawi shown at the 5th Marawi Liberation Anniversary in October 2022
Doggone it, while looking thru my Files on my Personal Computer (PC), I rediscovered some Pictures I took during the 5th Marawi Liberation Anniversary at the Philippine Army (PA) Headquarters in Taguig City back in October of 2022, around three Years ago now, including these Pictures of a Simba Vehicle named “Gujuanga”.

Does anybody know what that means? I can’t seem to find it in the Search Engines and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Queries. Anyway, this particular Simba Vehicle has a different Turret and Weapon than the ones we normally see with the PA, these seems to be the ones that are armed with a 25 mm caliber Cannon.

But those were supposed to be used only by the Presidential Security Command (PSC). However, it looks like they were also pressed into Service with the PA during the 2017 Battle of Marawi. The former “Presidential Security Group (PSG)” has recently been expanded back into a Command now, by the Way, it’s not just a “Group” anymore like it has been after the first EDSA Revolution.

I think I originally intended to release these Photos in a Video, but it just got set aside by more urgent Topics and Issues. So now I will finally release them here instead whenever I can so I can also put them also on Wikimedia Commons
