Philippine Navy (PN) New Landing Dock News



May 29, 2024: Keel for second LD of the PN laid down by PT PAL
The Shipbuilder "PT PAL Indonesia" just laid down the Keel of the second of the two new Landing Docks (LD) for the Philippine Navy (PN) recently to officially start its Construction. The said Ceremony was accompanied by an Official Survey by the PN's Technical Inspection and Acceptance Committee (TIAC).

On a Side Note, I just realized that the two previous Tarlac-class LDs continue to be armed only with .50 cal. Heavy Machine Guns (HMG) up now, I think the PN should at least prioritize Self-Defense Countermeasures and Armaments for it. 

I suggest they use the same ones used on the Jose Rizal class Guided Missile Frigates, the C-Guard Decoy Launchers and Simbad-RC Surface to Air Missile (SAM) Systems for Commonality ...


January 24, 2024: Keel laying and Steel Cutting of PN’s 2 new Landing Docks begins
The Keel for the first of two additional Landing Docks (LD) for the Philippine Navy (PN) has been laid at the PT Pal Indonesia Shipyard in Surabaya, Indonesia recently, which signals the official start of the construction of the Ship. At the same time, the Steel Cutting for the second of these new, additional LDs which signals the first tangible Step in the Shipbuilding Process. 

The Events were attended by a Delegation from the Philippines consisting of Officials from the PN and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). These new Ships will reportedly be identical to the current Tarlac-class LDs now in Service with the PN.
