The Vice President for International Business Development of the Aircraft Manufacturer Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), Shin Dong Hak, recently told the Flight Global Website during the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) that the Philippines has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to them about their new KF-21 Boramae Fighter Aircraft, and that they are now preparing their Response to it.

An RFI is part of the Philippine Government's official Procurement Process whose purpose is to collect Written Information about an Item that the Government is interested in buying, which in this Case is the Boramae.

It doesn’t mean of course that the Philippines will buy the Aircraft, but it does indicate that officially the Philippines is considering its acquisition and may or may not proceed in the near Future to do so.

The latest News about the Boramae is that it has just started its Initial Production of 20 Aircraft for Usd 1.41 billion, or around Usd 70.5 million per Aircraft which are scheduled to be delivered to the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF), meaning the South Korean Air Force, starting in 2026.

Note that just in May of this Year of 2024, a Delegation from the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) of South Korea met with Philippine Government Officials during the Defense Services Asia (DSA) Event in Malaysia to start the Discussions for the possible export of the Boramae.

The DAPA is the Agency within the South Korean Government that is responsible for the development of Military Equipment like the Boramae.

Also as I made a Video about earlier, KAI was at the recent Symposium of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) at the Marriott Hotel in Pasay where, not only were they offering the Boramae, but also the Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) based on the Banner Poster that they had there.

The MUM-T UAVs are designed to accompany and work with the Boramae which can control at least four of it. The MUM-Ts can serve as Decoys, Jammers, Reconnaissance Aircraft or even Missiles themselves if necessary.
