Jose Rizal class Frigate (JCRF) News

June 21, 2024: PN to complete JRCF and Wildcat Helicopter Integration this Year (2024)
The Philippine Navy (PN) recently said that they intend to complete the Integration of their Jose Rizal class Guided Missile Frigates to their AW159 Wildcat Helicopters within this Year of 2024. Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Exercises are currently underway between these Assets to complete the Integration.

The PN has two Jose Rizal class Frigates and two Wildcat Helicopters, with each Ship to be paired with each Helicopter. Once the Integration is complete, these will then be the most capable ASW Assets of the PN that will be World-class in Terms of Standard.

Only four other Assets of the PN have ASW capabilities, the BRP Conrado Yap (PS-39) has Sonar and Torpedoes but no ASW Air Support, while the Del Pilar class Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) only have Sonars but no Torpedoes nor ASW Air Support.

January 27, 2024: Jose Rizal class Frigate Crew completes Torpedo Training
A total of eight Personnel from the BRP Jose Rizal (FF-150) and BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151) Guided Missile Frigates of the Philippine Navy (PN) completed the Training for the Operation and Maintenance of the Blue Shark Torpedo recently at the LIG Nex1 Company in South Korea

The Training provided the Personnel with an In-Depth Understanding of the Technical Specifications, Functions, Capabilities, Operation and Maintenance of the Torpedo. And to think that just a Decade ago, our Navy could only dream about having Torpedoes, but now they are living the Dream.

Ten Years ago back in 2014, our most capable Ships were the Del Pilar class Vessels which were only armed with Cannons. Now we have Vessels with Guided Missiles, Torpedoes, Countermeasures, etc.
