The Special Forces Unit of the Royal Thai Army (RTA) reportedly just approved their adoption of the Chinese-made QBZ-195T Assault Rifle, making Thailand as the first export Customer of the said Rifle.
The QBZ-195T is a Variant of the new QBZ-191 Assault Rifle of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the People's Armed Police (PAP) that was introduced into Service just five Years ago, back in 2019.
The QBZ-195T though has been developed to meet the specific Needs of the Thai Special Forces, like for one it is chambered in the 5.56 x 45 mm caliber Ammunition instead of the 5.8 x 42 mm Ammo used by the QBZ-191.
The Thai Special Forces Units reportedly got impressed with the QBZ-191 after extensively experiencing handling it during their Joint Exercises with the PLA over the last couple of Years, citing its Accuracy, Modularity, Ergonomics and customization options.
They also found these Rifles to be superior to the M-16A4 and M4 Rifles that they are currently using. This development raises the possibility of the Thai Special Forces adopting even more Chinese-made Small Arms such as Machine Guns and Sniper Rifles.
The QBZ-195T uses the Gas-operated, Short-stroke Piston action similar to the ones being used on other highly regarded Assault Rifles like the Special-operations-forces Combat Assault Rifle (SCAR) and the HK416.
