Reports from India came out last Month of June 2024 of how the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) were reportedly very happy with their new PJ-10 BrahMos Missile System which were delivered to them last April of 2024. The PMC were said to have given strong approval to the comprehensive Training Programs and Support Facilities that India provided along with the System.
In line with this, the Marines are also reportedly planning to do a live-fire Drill of the BrahMos in the coming Months. The BrahMos System apparently includes not just the actual Missiles themselves, but also cheaper Training Rounds that allow for more realistic Drills without the need to use the more expensive actual Missiles themselves with live Warheads.
Not just in the Philippines, but other Observers within the Asian Region are expected to closely monitor the said live-firing Event when it happens. Although at least three Batteries of the BrahMos System were delivered to the Philippines several Months ago, the PMC has yet to officially commission it into Service as of this writing.
Once officially commissioned, the BrahMos will be the first ever known Guided Missile System that went into Service with the PMC, and will only be among the handful of Land-based Missile Systems in service with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), along with the Mistral Surface to Air Missile (SAM) System of the Presidential Security Group (PSG), the SpyDer SAM System of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) and the Tube-launched, Optically tracked, Wireless-guided (TOW) Missile System of the Philippine Army (PA).
Each BrahMos Missile weighs 3,000 kg, has a maximum speed of Mach 3, has a Warhead Weight of 200 kg and a Range of 290 km.
The latest reports from the Indian Press like from the World is One News (WION) YouTube Channel says that the PMC is even now planning to buy an additional two more Batteries of the BrahMos by 2026, which will increase the number of Batteries from their current of at least three Batteries, to around five Batteries in total once it is completed.
